Fear or Love: Part 2

“Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learned here.” Marianne Williamson

I speak to women every day that tell me what they want in their love lives: a lasting, secure and passionate love.

I also speak to women who tell me what they don’t want: they want out of the pain, they want to become unstuck, they don’t want to keep attracting the same people and making the same mistakes.

But because we’re so accustomed to walking the path of fear first in our lives (play it safe, there’s not enough good men out there, ...continue reading...

Fear or Love: Those are Our Options and We Get to Choose

“There are 2 basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all life has to offer with passion, excitement and acceptance.” John Lennon

Everything we do moves us either closer to fear or closer to love.

Moving closer to fear feels like hiding ourselves, suppressing our insecurities, running from the truth, or trying to make love happen.

Fear feel like wanting love by our sides, but never being willing to take the steps forward to make that happen.

Fear moves us towards self-judgments such ...continue reading...

The Lesson We Most Need to Learn

“Consciously or not, we are all on a quest for answers, trying to learn the lessons of life. We grapple with fear and guilt. We search for meaning, love, and power. We try to understand fear, loss and time. We seek to discover who we are and how we can become truly happy.” Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

Our lives are always teaching, always whispering, always guiding.

Sometimes that guidance takes the form of things that feel good, but many times it takes the form of pain, despair or frustration. It almost always seems to appear in clusters, which is the ...continue reading...

Why We Attract People Who Need Saving

“When people show you who they are, believe them.” Dr. Maya Angelou

We’ve all been there before:

This time will be different. He said he would change.

I can love him enough that eventually he’ll change his mind.

He just needs a little more time.

Those of us who are generous and visionary often see the potential in people, rather than the reality.

Those of us who have a lot of love to give think we can love someone through anything and even inspire them to do something different than what they’ve always done.

Those of us ...continue reading...

The Negative Emotions You Resist will Only Persist

“Negative emotions like loneliness, envy, and guilt have an important role to play in a happy life; they’re big, flashing signs that something needs to change.” Gretchen Rubin Last Saturday, my client Leslie found herself feeling incredibly sad about a past relationship with a man she loved very much. Historically when she would feel that way, she would judge those emotions of sadness and push them aside:

“Why am I still grieving this?”

“I should be past this by now.”

This time, however, she gave herself permission to stay with the sadness and just allow it be ...continue reading...

Prepare for Love to Come Flooding In

“Love isn’t something you find. Love is something that finds you.” Loretta Young

Have you been searching everywhere for love?

Have you ever wanted love so much that you convinced yourself that okay was enough?

Have you ever tried too hard to make an unworkable relationship work?

When it comes to love, have you ever felt like you were swimming upstream?

I spent most of my life swimming upstream.

I made everything much more difficult than it needed to be. If there was a challenge to be had, I seemed to be in the thick of it. ...continue reading...

Cheating and Trusting Your Instincts

“Trust your instincts. That’s where true wisdom manifests itself.” Oprah Winfrey

Did you know that there is a dating web site that is only for people who are married and looking for affairs? One of my clients suspected her husband was cheating, so she went on the site herself to see if he had a profile listed.

Who knew something like that even existed?

I had another client, Lily, who tapped her husband’s phone when she suspected he might be cheating.

Lily had been married to her husband for nearly twenty years and throughout those years she had ...continue reading...

  1. This is so right on! We always know! This is a very timely post (not because someone’s cheating on me) because I just today realised I need to pay SO much more to my intuition. A lifetime of sidelining it has made the volume weak. Thanks for the reminder to turn up the volume and LISTEN to that voice of wisdom inside.

How Your Soul Says “Yes!”

“Stay open to whoever and whatever comes along. When you least expect it, life can take your breath away.” Unknown

You know that one friend?

That friend you have that’s more than a best friend and maybe even more than family?

It’s that soul sister that you can go weeks without seeing, but when you get back together, it’s like no time at all has passed? Yea, that one.

I have a friend like that.

And every time we get together, we greet each other with a big hug and always, always a peaceful smile and good, long ...continue reading...

Our Happiness: Our Job

“You have to learn to get up from the table when love is no longer being served.” Nina Simone

Anne has an ex-husband that is also a part-time terrorist; I’m convinced of it. She also has a business relationship that’s borderline abusive that she’s trying to un-wind. She’s an incredibly caring person with a good spirit and never treats anyone unkindly. Anne just wants the people in her life to treat her with the same kindness and respect that she extends to everyone else.

Kayla is separated from her husband. He wants her to become a Stepford Wife with ...continue reading...

Love by July

“Bees can fly 12 miles without getting lost. Albatrosses, 25,000 miles. And flying insects, without eyes, have no trouble whatsoever finding their ‘soul mates.’ Imagine what I can do for you when you listen to the voice within.” The Universe, from Notes from The Universe by Mike Dooley

My client Paul took a stand about 2 weeks ago. He set the goal that he would have love by his side by July 22nd.

My client Kate was ready to set an intention that she would have love by this summer. After a little gentle nudging, she chose….yes, July 22nd!
